We had quite the busy Easter weekend. We started on Saturday morning with a egg hunt. It was a little chilly at 10 in the morning, but we trugged through. It was fun with Amelia this year. She really grasped what the whole point was and went right out there and picked up her eggs.
Dad wasn't far behind, especially with the crowd they had this year. Sunday morning Amelia awoke to find the Easter Bunny had hidden eggs in the house and left basket just for her. She was quite excited and had a fun time finding the eggs. We then headed over to my dads for a yummy dinner, more eggs, and more candy. Sunday was so beautiful and we spent a lot of time outside. My parents gave all the grandkids kites for Easter, so Spencer and Uncle Cory headed over to the park to fly kites. After my parents, we headed to Spencer's parents for another yummy dinner and more candy. Amelia had fun playing with her cousin Amaya and Spencer had fun playing golf (with waffle balls(?)) with his dad and brother Joe. As always with boys, they turned it into a competition of who could get hit the ball in the bucket. I don't think anyone won. We had a wonderful Easter with all of the family and remembering what the day was all about.

Easter Weekend
Easter Eggs
So this year I was going to be the mean mommy and skip dyeing eggs with Amelia. She doesn't know and I wasn't really looking forward to the mess. Well, good mommy Renae called me up and invited us over to color eggs. I told her she was awfully brave, especially inviting other kiddos over. I learned a good egg dyeing tip from her...use Styrofoam or plastic cups. So when the kids drop the eggs in the dye, the eggs don't break. Amelia had great time with Shad coloring all the eggs.
The clean white sheet ended up to be a fun tie died color by the end of the evening. We only had two cups tip over.
Tea Party
My best friend Jeri gave Amelia a tea set for her birthday. I didn't know how she would do with it, but Amelia is very soft and gentle and just loves it. So one evening we got it out and set up to have a tea party. I'm waiting for the day when she asks to have water in it. I'm not looking forward to that, so I'm keeping my mouth shut. She is very good at pretending and can be very "motherly" telling me to wait and don't touch it until she is all ready.
Close up of those big blues.
When all is too quiet...
So it was one of those afternoons when all I wanted was a little time to myself. Spencer was working and Amelia was doing her best not occupying herself. Finally it seemed like I had some peace and quiet. Just as I am realizing how enjoyable the quiet was, my alarm bell went off and realized all was too quiet. As much as I love it when it is quiet, as any parent and confirm, when it is quiet, there is sure to be a mess to clean up. Sure enough, I headed downstairs and discovered Amelia had gotten into the sprinkles and I had two stairs completely covered in them. Now my carpet is a little longer, not quiet shag, but it made it quite difficult to vacuum. I had to vacuum in every way possible to make sure those little sprinkles were sucked up. Oh, what kids find to be fun and amusing.
