Petting Farm

Amelia was invited to a birthday party from her buddy Davis. His mommy was really cool and had his party at a petting zoo. It could also have to do with the fact that Davis is obsessed with cows. Everything is a cow and he is constantly looking for a cow.

Amelia wasn't to thrilled with the animals at first. I didn't think we would ever get her to get anywhere near them. Finally towards the end and after she watched several kids pet them all, she decided it might not be all that bad. The farm had day old baby chicks that were so cute and fluffy.

Here Amelia and Davis are petting the pony. Again, it took some coaxing to get her to go and pet the pony. Davis had no reservations and was back and forth. Amelia would sneak up, quickly touch the pony and then come running back to Spencer with the ever-so-proud smile on her face. This pony was a hoot. They took him back and supposedly "locked" him back in the pen. The next thing we know, there is this flash of pony running around the compound. It was quite humorous. He was running so fast, his main was blowing in the wind and he did not want to be caught. This pony was showing all of us what he was made of. That he wasn't just a little pony, he was a stallion. (Reminds me of Shrek when Donkey drinks the potion and becomes a white stallion.) Those ponies are small, but he sure could run.

This was a baby goat, although it didn't look like a baby. This goat wasn't too confident with being pet and would squirm and kick. Amelia wasn't too sure about it. (Notice the styling glasses.)

Lamas...what can you say about lamas. They are interesting to look at, but they do spit. I don't think this one was all that excited about being put out to be pet. If the handler wasn't there, it (can't remember if it was a boy or girl) would give you this look like it would do something to you if you came any closer. And then its teeth...can we say bucky?

This was a cute round goat. We all thought for sure it was pregnant because it literally looked like it had swallowed a watermelon sideways. The farmer lady said no, that is just how they are. Very interesting. This picture was when we first got there, so Amelia did not want down. We would keep asking her if she wanted to feed the goats and her response, "Don't want it." And if by chance we didn't listen to her "don't want it" and we pressed for her to touch the animal, she would yell "don't want it" even louder.
I don't have a picture of the turkey, my gosh, what an ugly bird. Their bodies aren't that bad, but when you look at their heads, ewww. This red thing covers their beak and the blue on the head? Very strange. Well this Tom would strut along the cage and anytime someone would come close to the pen, he would puff out and gobble. It was quite funny to watch.

Beads

Amelia discovered these "pretties" in our closet and wanted to play with them. A little late for Mardi Gras (spelling?).

Cousin

We were able to meet up with Aunt Jenny and cousin Weston for a little bit while we were in Phoenix. We wish it could have been longer.

We asked them to stand next to each other and this is what we got. They are so cute and notice how tall Weston is? He is only a couple months older than Amelia. He looks so much older than he really is. It was fun to watch them all play together and explore the backyard.

We then asked them to hug each other. Weston sure loves his cousin. We can't wait to see cousin Weston soon and meet his new baby sister Emerson.

Friends and Discovery

So, it has been a while, but here are some additional photos from Phoenix.

Amelia and her friend Wyatt playing in the beautiful backyard. Amelia was a little nervous at first of climbing up the embankment, but she did it eventually.

Both sharing. For two 2 year olds, sharing this car was pretty good. It was quite funny as times, I thought for sure Amelia was going to fall out.

Discovering a bug. They were quite interested in this bug. Amelia even got brave enough to attempt to touch it. They both were quite sad when it flew away.

Deciding to switch hats. I think Amelia looks cute in whatever hat she wears, but Wyatt should maybe stick to the caps. We miss our friend.

I'm Gold

So I spyed this test on Amy Peterson's site and wanted to see what color I was...

You Are A Gold Girl

You're dependable and hard working. You never miss a deadline - and you're never late.

You have a clear sense of right and wrong. You're very detail oriented.

You get frustrated when your friends are sloppy - or when they don't follow through.

You're on top of things, and you wish that everyone else was!

Video of Wyatt and Amelia playing "Ring Around the Rosie."

Amelia's horse impression. She would play with the reins, but thought it better to grab the horses ears. And then you will notice that I obviously forgot how to turn off the camera.

Amelia is now knowledgeable of what her daddy does professionaly...he is an electrician. She can't quite pronouce the whole word, as it is a big word, but she does say "lectrcin."

Playing and more playing

Wyatt has this fun pony that Amelia discovered. It was also quite fun, that his closet doors are mirrors, so Amelia could constantly see herself. She just kept saying "neigh, neigh, neigh."

She would hold the poor horse's ear and wrench on them. I showed her the reins, but they didn't appeal to her.

Notice her cute "piggy?" To some, it might be considered really sad, but I don't have a lot to work with. The worst is when people ask if I have cut her hair. The answer....No. I just call it the cute pixie cut. It is growing. She now has wings and the new task it trying to convince Spencer to not cut the wings off. I keep trying to explain that we have to get through the awkward growing out stage and that we if cut the wings, then we will never get to her long locks.

a
The kids discovered "Ring Around the Rosie." It was so cute, they would hold hands and then fall to the ground. They tried to sing the song, but it was left to Jeri and I to sing.

"...all fall down"

Day at the Park

Jeri has this great park just a couple blocks from their house. We woke up Saturday morning and walked to the park. It was such a gorgeous day; warm in the mid 80's with a slight breeze. Upon walking across the road Amelia tripped and fell and earned herself her first skinned knee. She was a brave soul, she stood up and shook it off. After all, we were heading to the park. Notice her cute camo hat? I forgot one. Leaving cold Boise, a hat for outside play was nowhere on my radar. Wyatt was nice enough to share his hat with Amelia.

Two little munchkins at the top of the kid slide. Notice how Wyatt is barley hanging on and Amelia has a death grip on the bar? My brave little one. It didn't take her too long before she was more than comfortable on the slide.

At this point she was more confident and didn't want Jeri behind her. She wanted to do it.

No sooner was she down the slide, then she was scurrying over to the steps to start the process over again.

It would crack me up. The steps were kinda high and her little legs couldn't quite do it, so she ended up having to put her hand down to help her. Well there was sand on that step and each time she would put her hand down, she would have to stand up and dust the sand off. She didn't like it on her hands.

My cute little girl. Well Wyatt had had enough of the little kid slide and took off running for the big kid playground. To cut the distance, Wyatt took off across the sand. Amelia saw him and followed suit until she reached the end of the foamy, bouncy material the slide sits on and hit the sand. She came to a screeching halt. There was no getting her to walk out into the sea of sand. She wasn't going to have it. We had to head back to the sidewalk and walk clear around to the big kid slide. It takes her a while to warm up to new walking surfaces. It took her forever to walk on grass. They are little, but have their own ways.

Phoenix here we come...

Amelia and I were blessed to be able to head to warm Phoenix and visit our good friends the Spencer's. My girlfriend has a little boy named Wyatt that was born in November, so he and Amelia are just the perfect age. The plane ride went quite smoothly and thankful it was a direct flight as Spencer wasn't there to help me with the car seat, which ended up being quite a heavy lug through the airport. I was so grateful that Amelia would walk, except when it came to the moving walking escalator. That freaked her out a bit. Well we arrived in beautiful warm Phoenix. Jeri picked us up and we headed home. We had barely arrived in the house and Amelia wanted "side" (outside). She just couldn't wait to go out and play.

Jeri has the perfect backyard with the best gazebo to sit outside under and watch the children from. Amelia was thrilled with the puppy Lady who was always tagging along.

Wyatt gained a little sister in January, little Jane. She is so cute and I had forgotten how truly little they are. It was hard remembering that Amelia was that little.

Amelia was really sweet with baby Jane. In the past, she did not like it when I would hold babies or even when a dog would sit in my lap. She did great, she had no objections when I was holding Jane. I even caught her giving Jane kisses. So sweet...

Bath time. This was actually quite funny. Wyatt likes to have all of his toys in the bath with him. Amelia likes to have nothing bobbing around her, only what she is playing with immediately in her hand. So the humorous part was watching Amelia pick each toy out and put it on the edge of the tub and then watch Wyatt knock them back in and Amelia having a fit. A vicious cycle that they each didn't quite understand.

Pop-Pop and Grandma's house

We went to Grandma and Pop-Pop's house for dinner and got to play with our cousins. This was actually our Easter as we had to post-pone our dinner. The wait was worth it. It was a nice Sunday, relaxing and full of family. Amelia really enjoys her cousins and wants to be wherever they are.

Amelia and cousin Cami playing downstairs. I sneaked downstairs to take a picture of them. Apologize for the terrible pictures, that is my old-school camera.

Caught...

Grandma was so nice and quite brave to opt to take all of the cousins on a walk. It ended up that only Amelia and Cami wanted to go. Amelia brought in a pretty flower for me. I didn't see much of it as Amelia really liked having it, but what mom doesn't just love when her little one brings her a flower.

Smelling the pretty flower.

The two older ones were downstairs and it suddenly became awfully quiet concerning the little ones. I went on the hunt only to discover they had climbed in the big green soaker tub. Amelia was quite impressed with herself for getting in there on her own. In and out, in and out. Over and over. It amazes me what Amelia finds entertaining. All-in-all, it was a wonderful day to spend with family. We ate, read the paper, and some even took naps. Nothing beats a day of relaxing and home cooked food.

Evidence of how tired Amelia was from a full day of playing and going non-stop. I just love watching my sleeping baby. Her face relaxes and she has the most peaceful and precious look about her. But of course, her thumb is in her mouth and pooh bear is by her side.

Ahhh, a virius!

O.K. so I haven't been able to post the last bit because Spencer downloaded a Trojan virus. Consequently our computer was quite messed up. But, thanks to my great IT folks at work they were able to eradicate the nasty little bugger. Let the catch-up begin.
