So we weren't quite sure how Amelia would do on the sand. Last year on the Oregon Coast she absolutely freaked and wanted nothing to do with the sand. As we started to walk down the boardwalk she started to get a little nervous, but we were able to talk her through it. We bought sand toys and set up shop to play on the beach.
Daddy showing Amelia how fun the beach can be; so far so good.
Amelia really started to like the beach. As Spencer went off to play in the water, I was left to tend to Amelia on the ever increasing hot beach.
Admiring the beautiful beach, although I don't think she views it that way. Amelia seemed to be really enjoying herself, so with me dieing of heat I thought it would be so nice and cool to head down to the water. I picked Amelia up and we started our walk. Well, the calm little girl that I was enjoying the beach with turned into a screaming little monster. She wanted nothing to do with the water and screamed the whole walk down and the whole walk back to the towels. I thought she would stop when we were back up on the beach, well that was a negative. She was absolutely done with the water, the sand, with the beach in its all entirety. Poor Spencer had to be rained in from playing in the water. So that was the end of our beach. We tried to head down one more time and the whole time we were walking on the beach, Amelia kept screaming "Go Time Out, Go Time Out." She would rather go to time out than be on the beach. Spencer was so disappointed. All he wanted to do was play in the water.
Like I said, Spencer didn't take too long before he headed off to play in the water. I have this same pose on the Oregon Coast. It is almost like he is mesmerized with the water and shocked that his feet are getting wet.
Spencer came to Florida with one goal in mind...Body Surf. He waded out and before long was trying to catch a wave to body surf in.
He didn't quite get the waves that he was dreaming about and we ended up going to the store to look for a boogie board. But when he tried the boogie board, he claimed that the board was defective and that it didn't work. Sure, I think it was user error. It was really fun to watch Spencer and when he ran back to the beach, he had a huge grin on his face.
This was our little neighbor. He was cleaning house and it was quite amusing to watch him come shuttling out with a claw full of sand and then chuck it.
